Celebration of the centenary of the birth of two of our fellow-sisters
In September 2025, we from the Province of the Sisters of Divine Providence in Brazil had the grace to celebrate the centenary of the birth of two of our fellow sisters with a heart full of joy and gratitude:
- Sr. Valburga Flach, on September 9th
- Sr. Iza Maria Delazeri, on September 23rd
Sr. Valburga (Adolina Flach)
Since April 2018, Sr. Valburga has been a member of the "Orante" community of the House of Divine Providence in Florianópolis. Born in Encantado/RS, she was admitted to the postulancy on January 5, 1949 in Florianópolis. She took her first vows on July 12, 1951, and her perpetual vows on July 8, 1951, July 1956. Her motto in life is:
"Master, we worked all night and caught nothing. But at your word I will cast the nets" (Luke 5:5).
Her centenary was celebrated with a beautiful Mass and a festive coffee attended by the Sisters of the House of Divine Providence, representatives of the communities of Florianópolis and the surrounding area, members of the Provincial Coordination and nephews from Tunápolis/SC. It was with great joy that we thanked God for her fruitful lives, which were and are marked by faith, generous devotion and hope.
Sr. Iza Maria Delazeri
Since May 2022, Sr. Iza has been a member of the community of Divine Providence House in Curitiba. Born in Arroio do Meio/RS, she began her postulancy on June 19, 1950 in her hometown. She took her first vows on February 5, 1954, and her perpetual vows on February 5, 1959. Her motto in life is:
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).
Throughout her life and mission, Sr. Iza has worked in various pastoral fields and also as a dressmaker, working with dedication and humility. The celebration of her 100th birthday took place with a solemn Mass and a joyful gathering attended by the sisters of the communities of Curitiba and the surrounding area, Sr. Beatriz Zanatta, the Provincial Coordinator, representatives of the Provincial Coordination and various family members who celebrated this special moment in Sr. Iza's life with her.
Dear fellow sisters, Sr. Valburga and Sr. Iza Maria, congratulations on your hundredth birthday! Reaching this old age testifies to a life full of stories, experiences, struggles, joys and blessings received. May God continue to bless you and strengthen you in your faith and give you health, peace and serenity!
