THE FEAST OF CREATION IN CHRIST
SEEDS OF PEACE AND HOPE
At the 30th General Chapter in January 2025, our Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence established as a priority the "commitment to the care of life and commitment to the protection of life". We are missionaries in different phases and situations, called to fight and defend life with the poor and to promote an integral ecology.
In this sense, in communion with the Church and Religious Life, we invite all sisters and lay people, who take on the mission that God has entrusted to us, to participate in the celebrations of 1st September as the Day of Creation, the Feast of Creation or the World Day of Prayer for Creation. Let us celebrate the beauty of creation to grow in the defense and our commitment to life.
Our Constitutions, in No. 9, state that: "We keep the Charism alive as we pay attentive to the various challenges of the world and the signs of the time". We know that countless climate disasters are afflicting the planet and affecting millions of people, mostly the poorest. This context leads us not only to celebrate, but to courageously affirm that life is a gift of God, that we are all brothers and sisters and that we inhabit the "common home" with the same rights and dignity. As pilgrims of hope, we welcome this year's theme by participating in celebrations, prayers and events from 1st September to 4th October, wherever and however possible.
We invite you to read the message of Pope Leo XIV for the 10th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (1st September 2025) which, among several important aspects, states that, in addition to prayer, the willpower and concrete actions are necessary to make this "caress of God" tangible for the world (cf. Encyclical Laudato Si', No. 84).
We can ask ourselves: How can I contribute to the preservation of creation and the protection of life?
Each one of us and all of us together are "seeds of peace and hope", as our beloved Pope Francis told us, words confirmed by Pope Leo XIV as an invitation to celebrate this time of creation and to take up this cause so important for humanity.
